He (Alonso) now starts from 15th and knows his hopes of fighting his way through the field and into the points have all but disappeared.

"The race is lost," said the fuming Spaniard.

"You can't overtake here and I'm starting from 15th, so I will be going out just to lap the track, but it's over already."

But with Lady Luck smiling at him, he was crowned champion of the first F1 night race! It was awesome.
